What We Fund
The financial support provided by the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation is only possible with the generous hearts and loving commitment of people like you, who want to give back and continue Thay’s teachings.
Any donation to the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation can be given as a general support gift, which goes to the areas of greatest need, or designated for a program or practice center you wish to support. This includes monthly pledges, one-time gifts, and bequest gifts.
General Gifts: The Most Helpful Kind of Support
Gifts given for general support provide needed funding for the priorities of the community. Every year, over 46,000 people are introduced or renew their commitment to mindful living at our peaceful monasteries. Your gifts help keep the mindfulness practice centers open. Donations also go towards taking care of the health of our monastic brothers and sisters. We know when we take care of them, we also benefit from their presence and practice.
In addition, Foundation gifts bring Thay’s teachings and practices to cities all over the world by supporting Dharma outreach and education programs, such as Wake Up tours to bring mindfulness events to young adults and Sangha building projects to help grow and strengthen community. Your gifts are also helping provide needed humanitarian assistance in Vietnam and other countries through the Love and Understanding program.

Restricted Gifts: Fund Projects Close to Your Heart
If a particular program, such as one highlighted above, is especially close to your heart, it is possible to restrict your gift for that program. For instance, you can designate your funds to support just the Love and Understanding Program, a practice center capital campaign, or the Wake Up program for young adults.
To designate your giving for a specific monastery or program, visit our secure online donation page and select the designation of your choice from the “Gift Designation” drop-down menu. You can add notes regarding the intention of your gift or pledge in the “Gift Designation Notes” text box.
You are also welcome to call our office (760-291-1003 ext 104) or make a note of your giving designation on any check you submit by post.
